PA required for 8 hours per week during college holiday periods (approximately 14 weeks per year) (SM 415231)

A Personal Assistant is required to support a friendly and creative young woman living in Cowes.
She enjoys photography, creating content for her YouTube channel, watching films and television, and exploring places of interest. She has recently moved to the Isle of Wight and would like support to develop friendships, access social opportunities and become more involved in her local community and explore the island and it’s photogenic sites.
The role is focused on supporting her to build confidence, develop independence and access activities that are important to her.
Main Duties
• Supporting to access community activities and local facilities.
• Accompanying on photography trips and other leisure activities.
• Encouraging participation in social opportunities and helping develop friendships.
• Supporting to access activities during college holiday periods.
• Supporting to build confidence travelling within the community.
• Promoting independence, choice and decision-making.
• Providing reassurance and support in unfamiliar environments.
• Supporting to pursue her interests and achieve her personal goals.
About the individual
She is a young woman with many strengths and interests. She is partially sighted to coloboma, which means there are discs missing at the back of her eyes. This condition prevents her from filtering sunlight and impacts her ability to navigate unfamiliar environments. She also wears hearing aids. She may require support when accessing unfamiliar places and opportunities in the community but is keen to increase her confidence and independence. She can be active but is affected by hot or cold weather, making it important for her to dress appropriately for the weather. also has scoliosis, a submucous cleft palate and requires her to use water to help her swallow.
