PA 5x hours per week @£15ph for lady with dementia and her husband – Outings & Housework. Ventnor.

Mrs, Mr and a cat we ‘think’ is called Twinkle are looking for a PA to assist with housework and getting out and about.
Working with their adult daughter who lives off the island and visits frequently.

Both nearly 80 - Mr & Mrs are 60s kids who met at Art School in Portsmouth. Twinkle the cat is obviously much younger….

We need an extra pair of hands for in-person tasks at home and out & about.

We are seeking someone who enjoys the arts and plants.
Mrs is a painter and likes the Botanic Gardens, Ventnor Exchange, garden opens, charity shop browsing and plants sales.
She’d like to be able to go to the hairdressers for a wash & blow dry every now and then, and attend dementia socials/therapies.

Mr would like someone to do some of the jobs that he now finds harder due to mobility and fluctuating energy levels.

Support Required

- Getting out and about. Car driver for trips outside of Ventnor ideally.

- Assistance to walk into town and stay socially connected.

- Housework: kitchen cleaning & bins, laundry, hovering.

- Some sitting for Mr to get out the house as and when.

- Personal care and medication tasks are not desired currently, but we do expect to need this in the near-ish future - scalable support and experience would be great.

- Flexible on hours, afternoons preferred for housework. Activities may dictate timings on some occasions.

- £15 per hour, estimated around 5 hours per week.

About You

We need someone who is a clear communicator including good listening skills, and is patient with a sense of humour and the ability to make things simple and straightforward.

- Respect for autonomy and desire to support self-reliance is an important value for both Mr & Mrs.

- Physically fit and able - Mrs has compromised balance, and household tasks will be ones that Mr can’t do due to reduced mobility.

- Someone who doesn’t mind mess and clutter and appreciates eccentric/quirky people would get on well.

We are potentially seeking more than one person or a duo who can cover each other for holidays and illness as daughter struggles to cover at short notice.

Self-Employed, DBS Checked and right to work in UK essential.

Experience of dementia required.
