PA Required for Gentleman in Sandown – 84825 CD

PA Support for a gentleman who is 70 years of age who is living in a long-term placement at a residential home in Sandown near to the beach. He is described as a quiet individual who doesn’t enjoy being in a crowd. This gentleman has a diagnosis of Schizophrenia (paranoid and catatonic), he also experienced a stroke in May 2024 that has caused some left sided weakness and difficulty mobilising independently.
He has a keen interest in computers and enjoys “feeling the sun on his face” and being near the beach. He would like support to access the local community, spend time down the sea front enjoying a coffee, going for a walk in his wheelchair and looking for computer shops/workshops across the island.

He enjoys 1-1 company and will chat freely and would benefit from getting to know one person well hence the advert for a personal assistant.

8 hours per week, days and times can be arranged between the PA and the gentleman to suit. Support required is to access the community to reduce the risk of isolation.

Pay is £15.99 per hour

He is a smoker, smokes 2-3 cigarettes per day and requires support to light it due to his mobility in is hands.

The gentleman wears continence pads, carers at the residential home will ensure he is ready to go out so personal care should not be required. But may be necessary on occasion.

Driving licence is not required but is desirable to enable him to explore further areas of the island.
