PA Required for Gentleman Gurnard Pines (414039) LKM
8 hours of PA support to support a lady in her caring role and to also support the client with his personal care routine and with accessing the community
This support will also support the lady in her caring role as she is currently extremely overwhelmed with her caring responsibilities, and she needs some reprieve otherwise she will go into crisis
This support is crucial to having a person-centred approach
2 hours support on a Thursday and Sunday so 4hours in total
1 hour support on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday – 4 hours in total
- The gentleman had a stroke on the 26th July - 4th stroke in 7 years
-The stoke impacted the gentleman's ability to perform daily tasks independently
Maintaining the home:
The gentleman is currently unable to carry out domestic tasks within the home due to physical limitations. He experiences weakness in his left leg and has reduced sensation from the knee downwards. He shared that at the age of 30, he was informed by medical professionals that his knees resembled those of an 80-year-old, which has contributed to his long-standing mobility issues.
As a result, the lady has taken on full responsibility for all domestic tasks, including washing, hoovering, and general household upkeep. She is beginning to struggle with maintaining these duties, reporting that she feels constantly exhausted due to the demands of caring for both the gentleman and their son.
Eating healthily and safely:
- The gentleman can place frozen food in the air fryer and get a hot drink and snacks- he however is unable to stand for long periods of time which limits his ability to prepare more complex meals
The lady provides support with meal preparation and ensures that the gentleman has 3 meals a day
Personal care:
The gentleman is unable to wash and bathe himself independently - The lady has to set up the bathroom in order to make it for accessible for him to use however she still has to manual handle him and out of the shower due to the lack of feeling has In his legs.
Accessing the community:
The gentleman used to enjoy going on daily walks; occasionally covering distances up to 10 miles – since his most recent stroke on the 29th July, he is no longer able to access the community independently or attend medical appointments for himself and required support to do this.
