Location: Ventnor, Isle of Wight

Hours: 6 hours per week (flexible scheduling)

Rate of Pay: £15.99 per hour

Contract Type: Part-time, Direct Payment

About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and trauma-informed Personal Assistant to support a 29-year-old man who lives independently in Ventnor. He has a diagnosis of complex PTSD and paranoid personality disorder. He values his autonomy and privacy and is looking for someone who can offer consistent, respectful, and practical support to help him maintain his independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

Support with shopping, meal planning, and establishing a regular eating routine.
Assistance with managing correspondence and tenancy-related tasks to maintain a safe and habitable home.
Accompanying to appointments (e.g. DWP, council, healthcare) and help with completing forms.
Encouraging and supporting access to community services and volunteering opportunities, particularly outdoors or nature-based.
Providing structured, trauma-informed engagement to reduce isolation and support emotional wellbeing.
Monitoring and supporting harm reduction around alcohol use and emotional distress.

About You:

Experience or understanding of trauma-informed practice and mental health support.
Patient, empathetic, and able to build trust over time.
Comfortable working independently and flexibly.
Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
A driver with access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential.

This role is funded through a Direct Payment managed by Isle of Wight Council.
