PA support for a lovely 50-year-old lady with physical health needs and her husband who has a learning difficulty in the Shanklin area to support with clearing and maintaining the home. This couple are seeking support with hoarding tendencies and are keen to work with a personal assistant to support them to go through their items and support with deciding which items to keep, donate to charity and dispose of. They have already made good progress but require additional support.

The property is a one bed bungalow, the couple have lived there for 12 years. They have been supported by housing to clear the outside of the property which has worked well. They have been offered a deep clean for the inside of the property, but this approach was too traumatic and resulted in the company being asked to leave.

This lovely lady has experienced significant trauma throughout her life and likes to show her affection to her husband by buying him things. She enjoys playing games on her phone and watching television.

Her mobility is limited, which is impacting on her ability to sort through items within the home and maintain the property. Her husband has already made considerable progress and they are starting to see the benefits of their work. She has a mobility scooter to access the community and goes out regularly.
This will require a gentle and sensitive approach and would be suited to someone experienced in working with hoarding conditions.

This couple are keen to work alongside the right person and will need support to build a trusting relationship. They would like support to continue working at their pace as to not over whelm them further or to make them feel rushed. It is essential that they do not feel judged and that their progress is celebrated. The couple would like a personal assistant who will listen to them. They would prefer afternoon visits preferable 2 afternoons per eek for 3 hours each time. They can be flexible on days. They would like to meet with the potential PA before committing to weekly support to ensure that they are able to get along well with the person and vice versa.

Lady is a smoker and smokes in the property, she is looking to quit smoking with support from her GP
