PA Required for Lovely Gentleman in Brighstone (286821) LKM

A PA is required for a 58 year old gentleman in Brighstone. He currently has 20 hours of support to be split across the week Monday to Friday. Hours can potentially be shared between 2x PA's. Please apply with hours you can offer. He has another PA for the weekends. This role would suit someone outgoing and keen to get involved with activities and be creative with ideas which would encourage and support him to maintain an active lifestyle. He is quite isolated.

This gentleman suffered a grade 5 stroke in 2009 which has left him with brain damage that has had a significant impact on his cognition and memory . This has impacted upon his daily living affecting his ability to be able to work and drive. He can sometimes get a little frustrated at the impact this has all had on his life. He has a lovely sense of humour .

Support needs are as follows:
He has had a weekly routine which has worked well for his memory and has helped him in maintaining a level of fitness. He would be keen for this routine to continue if at all possible.
He can be relatively flexible with the hours except for Wednesdays when he goes Lane swimming.

He needs support to access the community and for his PA to provide companionship. He currently has a One Card Membership at Medina Leisure Centre and goes to Gym once a week on a Monday and lane swimming on a Wednesday between 1145 – 1pm. He would prefer a PA who is willing to get in the pool and swim with him for encouragement and to keep him going and also someone willing to accompany him and encourage him/keep him on track when at the gym.
He needs to be taken shopping once a week, usually on a Tuesday.
He needs assistance in shopping, planning for and cooking meals and he needs to be supervised in the kitchen. He enjoys playing pool, getting out and about , going for picnic lunches, walks, days out.
He needs prompting and encouraging to undertake tasks around the home and keeping up with the gardening.
He needs support with making and attending appointments, dealing with correspondence/filing important letters and liaising with the Deputyship Team with regard to money matters. Accurate records of his spending needs to be closely monitored and organised.
He needs support to order and collect his prescriptions and for medication to be organised for him to take twice daily. His GP monitors him closely and sometimes will ask for BP readings which he will need support with at the time.
He may need support occasionally with regard to maintaining contact with family.

He lives alone and has no pets
He would prefer a non smoker

Rate of pay £13.45 per hour
