Gentleman aged 79 in Shanklin requires 15hrs PA support weekly (SM 174823)

This gentleman lives alone in his own and spent his career working hard as a bricklayer. He is reluctant to accept help and does not see that he needs it. Due to poor memory, behaviour and mobility the care needs to be broken down with PA support who he can form a relationship with and trust.

He needs to be distracted from things he feels uncomfortable about talking with someone to something more light hearted. He does not like to be told what to do or rushed, but he likes it when he is asked e.g. to clean out his fridge and he will help by holding a bag to put things in to throw away.

He likes going for a drive on the sea front and needs someone to help him do basic tasks in the home like join in washing dishes, putting shopping away. He has poor mobility and takes a long time to get ready. He needs someone with experience and understanding of dementia and how it impacts on memory and thought processes.

He has arthritis in his knees and struggles to walk, he has eye drops for glaucoma and has dementia. He can forget some of his words and does get anxious and frustrated when he can not do things. Medication is overseen by care agency.
No pets or smokers in the home.

PA support required with cleaning, tidying, support with food shopping and meal prep for the coming days
Pay rate @ £15.99 per hour x 15 hrs = £239.85
